Funding applications to provide holiday activities for young people now open

Would you or your organisation like to provide holiday activities for young people in Oxford?

Oxford City Council has agreed £130,000 of funding to help make it happen.

Organisations and individuals that want to put on holiday activities for young people can now submit applications to receive money from the grant pot.

Previous activities funded by the Council have included sports, theatre, and arts and crafts projects, along with trips and even workshops to build and race go-karts.

There are no restrictions on the type of activities that could be offered, only that they must engage and inspire young people aged eight to 19 from Barton, Wood Farm, The Leys, Littlemore, Rose Hill, Northway, Cutteslowe or East Oxford.

It is the 11th year that the Council has agreed the funding, which is part of the Council’s Youth Ambition programme to identify and meet the needs of Oxford’s young people.

To be eligible, applicants must provide six weeks of activities during the following periods:

  • One week during the Easter holidays
  • Four weeks during the summer holidays
  • Either one week during the Christmas holidays or one week during a half term

Application forms and more information, including the full application criteria, can be found on our Grants page. The closing date for all applications is Sunday 10 January 2016.

Councillor Pat Kennedy, Oxford City Council Executive Board Member for Young People, Education and Community Development, said: “This is part of the City Council’s crucial work to engage with and inspire Oxford’s young people.

“We always have some very impressive applications, but we are also always willing to listen to and try out new ideas. So if you or your organisation would like to try something new this year to inspire young people, please get in touch.”
