Coronavirus: Grants for businesses - 16 February 2021 to 31 March 2021

The relevant grant options are:

  • Local Restrictions Support Grant (for closed premises) for businesses in the non-essential retail, leisure, personal care, sports facilities and hospitality sectors that have rateable values and have been mandated to close by government
  • Additional Restrictions Grant for businesses that do not have rateable values and have had to close, for businesses that were severely impacted by the Tier 4 restrictions and National Lockdown, and for home and mobile workers/businesses

The closing date for these grants will be reviewed.

Local Restrictions Support Grant (for closed premises)

This is a mandatory grant for businesses that have a rateable value and have had to close, or substantively close and were only offering click and collect / takeaway services during the National Lockdown.

Grants will be paid to each eligible business. The grant amounts are fixed. Businesses with more than one qualifying property will receive more than one grant.

Applications under this scheme prior to the 16 February 2021 are no longer open to applications. Any applications submitted prior to the closing date will be processed in due course.

For grants in the period 16 Febrauary 2021 to 31 March 2021 the rate of payments for eligible businesses are:

  • For properties with a rateable value of £15k or under, grants of £2,096
  • For properties with a rateable value of over £15k and below £51k, grants of £3,143
  • For properties with a rateable value of £51k or over, grants of £4,714

If you have previously applied for a grant for the period 5 January to 15 February 2021 (this application is now closed) you do not need to complete a further application for the extended period 16 February to 31 March 2021 as we will treat your original application as a request for this extended grant and will process it as soon as we can.

If you have not completed an application as above, you can apply for the period 16 February 2021 to 31 March 2021 below.

This scheme will close for applications on 31 May 2021.

Additional Restrictions Grant

This scheme enables local authorities to pay discretionary grants of up to £2,000 per 28 days to the following types of business, if eligible:

  • Closed businesses that do not have a rateable value
  • Businesses that are severely impacted rather than closed

Please follow the link below to apply for an Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) for the period 2 December 2020 to 31 March 2021. 

Please note that you only need to apply once for an Additional Restrictions Grant from 2 December 2020 to 31 March 2021.

If you’ve already applied for an Additional Restrictions Grant for 2 December 2020 to 15 February 2021, your application will be automatically extended to 31 March 2021.

This scheme will close for applications on 31 May 2021.
