Missed Collection Policy

In order to qualify for an investigation, all missed collections must be reported to us by the end of the next working day (Monday to Friday by 6pm).

Any extra recycling that won’t fit in your blue bin can be placed out for collection on your usual recycling collection day, in a clear sack or cardboard box. However, we are unable to take any extra rubbish.

You can dispose of extra rubbish by visiting Redbridge Household Waste Recycling Centre (Old Abingdon Road, Oxford, OX1 4XG).

Incorrect Items Policy

Bins or sacks containing the wrong items will not be collected. Our collection crew reports such bins into a live reporting system at the time your street is serviced. We require evidence to the contrary to overturn their report.

Our recycling and rubbish processors check the items we collect and can reject an entire day's collection if it contains items they cannot accept.

Due to the safety of our crew and the privacy of our residents, our collection crew are unable to put their hands into your bin to remove any incorrect items.

To find out what can and cannot go into each bin see What goes in each bin.

Presentation Policy

Bins and sacks should not be placed out any earlier than 6pm on the evening before or any later than 7am on the morning of your collection.

Bins and sacks should be removed from the pavement as soon as possible after your collection. They should not be left on the pavement to cause an obstruction between collections.

All rubbish must be inside your green bin with the lid closed. Extra rubbish left outside the bin will not be collected.

All garden waste must be inside your brown bin with the lid closed; compostable sacks must not be overflowing. Extra garden waste left outside the brown bin or compostable sack will not be collected.

Extra recycling will be collected if placed neatly at the side of your blue bin or sacks in a clear sack or cardboard box.

Green food recycling caddies can be collected with the contents loose, wrapped in newspaper/kitchen roll or wrapped in any plastic bag, but not black bags or cloth bags.

Our collection crew reports bins that have not been presented into a live reporting system at the time your street is serviced. We require evidence to the contrary to overturn their report.

Bins and sacks need to be placed where the boundary of your property meets the public highway/footpath.

No Access Policy

Our collection crew report access issues (e.g. vehicles blocking access to bins and bin stores) into a live reporting system at the time your street is serviced and we require evidence to the contrary to overturn their report.

We will not return to a house with an access issue. We will return to a flat site to attempt a collection.
