Coronavirus: changes to building control service

As a result of ongoing coronavirus restrictions and current lockdown measures, Oxford City Council Building Control have made the difficult decision to no longer carry out physical site inspections and to only carry out remote site inspections and visits, unless it is an essential, urgent or statutory inspection. This will be assessed daily by Building Control and on an individual application basis.

This change of process will come into effect as of Tuesday 17 November 2020 and will continue through to Wednesday 2 December 2020, the proposed end date of the official UK lockdown period. However, this date may be subject to further change.

The process for booking site inspections will remain the same for all customers who can continue to call 01865 252807 and your inspection will be booked in with the Building Control Service as per normal.

A Building Control Surveyor will then assess the scope and urgency of the inspection and will then contact the you and clearly outline how best to record evidence for each individual inspection to ensure compliance is achieved and to allow for your application or project to progress.

This is an extremely difficult decision for us to take but we must ensure that we take the appropriate and immediate safety measures to stop the virus from spreading.
