Westgate link road access
Please be aware that following consultation and a decision by Oxfordshire County Council, an experimental Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) will come into force on 1 May 2019 to allow Taxis and Private Hire Vehicles (PHVs) to use the Westgate bus link road (Paradise Street to Old Greyfriars Street) seven days a week between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
The decision was to allow taxis and PHVs to use the link road only as a through route to avoid congestion and delays on the alternative route along Oxpens Road i.e. there must not be any stopping to pick up or drop off passengers.
For pick up and drop off of passengers for Westgate Centre please use Old Greyfriars Street for both Taxis (designated rank) and Private Hire.

When the experiment starts, a monitoring period will begin allowing an assessment to be made of how the new experimental arrangements are working. The highway authority (County Council), will be collecting data to help with that assessment although members of the public and other interested parties can of course let them know how they think things are working. Clearly, any comments and concerns will be best backed up with evidence where possible.
