What the grant is for and what it covers
The Covid-19 Winter Support Grant (CWSG) is being provided to help keep vulnerable people supported over winter, particularly with food and fuel costs. This can include things like food vouchers, gas and electricity payments, and cooking appliances. The CWSG is open until 31 March 2021 or until all funding has been allocated. It is only open to people in need and by referral only (you cannot refer yourself).
What to do if you need support with food or energy bills
If you're struggling to afford food, you can join your local community food larder (a low cost food membership scheme, starting at just £3.50 a week). For more information and to join, visit the SOFEA website. If you need support or advice with paying your energy bills, visit the Citizens Advice website for helpful information about what you can do.
If need further support, please contact your local advice centre for help or for a referral to our scheme:
You can refer someone to this scheme using our online form below if you’re a support worker, from an advice centre or from a community support group. We cannot accept self-referrals.
Small grants for community support groups (scheme now closed)
Grants of up to £2,000 were available to locally operating groups and up to £5,000 for city-wide organisations. See our list of successful groups and the support they offer.
