Following a successful grant application to Great Western Railway Community Fund, Oxford City Council is seeking expressions of interest from event organisers to run community events in Broad Street, Oxford between the beginning of November 2022 and the end of February 2023. Funding of £5K is available per event for a maximum of 2 events. Organisers can apply to run one event or two separate events.
The events should be planned to:
- Bring diverse communities together in an inclusive way and be free of charge to the public
- Raise awareness of the environment including the benefits of rail travel and other active travel opportunities
- Promote positive physical and mental health and wellbeing
- Attract rail users to Oxford and increase visitor dwell time
Match funding of at least 25% (£1250, therefore giving a minimum budget of £6250 per event) will be required from an alternative source. This can be from business sponsorship, donations or other sources. Those who are eligible may wish to apply for grants from external funders and/or funding from the Oxford Community Impact Fund (deadline 17 October 2022) and/or Ward Member budgets.
This project builds on the success of a community event programme of 16 free community events which were run in 2021 in the newly redesigned Broad Meadow space in Broad Street, Oxford. The 2021 events included a World in Oxford Day, Chance to Dance, Go Active Families Day, Big Green Day Out and Youth Takeover Day. The project will coincide with the extended Broad Street project which will offer a larger public space for the local community, businesses and event organisers to use throughout the year for the duration of an experimental period from autumn 2022 to spring 2024.
To express interest in this opportunity, please fill in the form below and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 21 October 2022.
