We Are Oxford Photo Competition Terms and Conditions
‘We Are Oxford’ competition (“the Competition”) is promoted and operated by Oxford City Council (“the Council”). The Competition will be open to residents of Oxfordshire, run from 10am on 5 February 2020 until midnight on 1 March 2020 and be shortlisted by a panel of officers from Oxford City Council, and subsequently put forward for a public vote on Facebook. By entering the Competition, participants confirm that they understand and agree to accept and abide by these rules.
The Council is asking members of the public to submit a photograph of their own which illustrates something about Oxford that is special to them. This could include a community centre, park, museum or anything else. The winning entries will be used by Oxford City Council. Each entry must be an original photo taken by the entrant. Entries are welcome from people of all ages.
Any of the submitted entries may be used in the Council’s promotion of the project, including on social media.
1. Members of the public should submit their entries to Oxford City Council via any of the following methods:
a. Facebook: send via private message, or comment on any of our promotional #WeAreOxford posts.
b. Instagram: use the hashtag #WeAreOxford with your post to enter.
c. Twitter: use the hashtag #WeAreOxford with your post to enter.
1.1. Entry into the Competition is free and open to anyone living in Oxfordshire.
1.2. Participants may enter as many submissions as they wish.
1.3. Entries must be submitted digitally.
1.4. Winning designs may be modified electronically as necessary e.g. to fit the dimensions required for display purposes.
2. All entries will be shortlisted by a judging panel and then put up for public vote on Facebook.
2.1. The Competition entries will be shortlisted by a panel of Council officers.
2.2. The Competition winners will be the top five entries with the most likes on Facebook (voting will be open for one week, from 12pm on 9 March 2020 to 12pm on 16 March 2020).
2.3. The Competition winners will be contacted via social media.
2.4. The Council reserves the right to reject any entries that are offensive, inappropriate or defamatory.
2.5. The Council reserves the right to publish winning entries and the names of winners on its social media pages and anywhere else. Unsuccessful entries, along with the names of their creators, may also be displayed publicly including online. Please be aware that the images posted online and to social media may be used by other organisations as Oxford City Council does not retain copyright.
2.6. By submitting their entries, all participants are deemed to have granted to the Council a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use/publish the entries in any way the Council chooses.
2.7 Entrants must themselves have created the submissions and, by entering the competition, confirm that they have infringed no third party rights (including copyright) in submitting their entries.
2.8. Details of the winning entry may be obtained by writing in to the Council at St Aldate’s Chambers, 109 St Aldate's, Oxford, OX1 1DS after 30 April 2020.
3. Competition updates will be displayed on Oxford City Council’s primary social media accounts.
3.1. Oxford City Council will seek to provide communication material about the Competition via social media.
4. Participating in the Scheme.
4.1. Apart from a name, address, contact phone number, email and, where relevant, those of parents/guardians, no additional personal data will be collected by the Council from any participants.
4.2. The number of participants in the competition will be collected for statistical purposes.
4.3. The Council is not responsible for any data collected by Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or through any other third party.
5. The prizes offered to the winners consist of a choice of one of the following: £50 Nando’s gift card, £50 Westgate gift card, £50 One4All gift card, 3 month membership to Fusion Lifestyle leisure centre, or one year brown bin subscription.
5.1. All prizes are as stated and are non-exchangeable and non-transferable. No cash alternatives will be provided. The Council’s decision is final in regard to all matters concerning prize award and it will enter into no correspondence on this matter.
5.2 Winners must respond within the time stated in the notification email to receive their prize.
6. The Council reserves the right to cancel or suspend any prize at any point.
6.1. The Council reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
6.2. The Council reserves the right to cancel or suspend the competition at any point.
6.3. The Council’s decision is final on all matters concerning the competition and we will not enter into further correspondence.
