The Cutteslowe Walls By Ann Spokes Symonds

    • Location: The Old Museum, Museum of Oxford
    • Time: 13:30 - 14:30
    • Cost: FREE booking through

Join Ann as she talks about the notorious Cutteslowe Walls, a monument to snobbery built across two roads in the northern part of Oxford. Revolving spikes topped the wall to prevent people climbing over from the Council side to what was called the urban estate. Ann was a toddler when the walls came into her life as the lady who looked after her lived on the Council side with her sister on the other.

Ann was responsible for having a blue plaque celebrating the demolition of the walls erected on the 9th March 2006;, exactly 47 years after the walls were demolished.  Ann was the first to walk through the walls when they came down.
