City Reps

Collage of twin cities picturesWe're looking for ten young people aged 18-25 from Oxford to represent our twin cities and get involved with Oxford's international links.

Experience and share the excitement of living in an international city!

What's involved?

You'll start by going on a trip to your chosen twin city - to discover the city, meet some people there and collect photos, videos, words, sounds and ideas. We'll give you some seed funding for the trip and help you to fundraise the rest of the costs.

Then, with training from professional web developers, you'll get together with the other reps and make a website to show the rest of Oxford why they should get out there and see the twin cities.

We'll help you run a website launch event as part of Christmas Light Festival in November 2017 and, from there, you could start designing your own events and projects...

What you will get out of it

  • a guided, part-paid trip abroad
  • training in website development and graphic design
  • new friends around the world
  • opportunities to design and deliver events

What you will have to do

You can use this project to develop whatever skills you are interested in. You could be:

  • designing graphics
  • building a website
  • running events
  • doing photography
  • making films
  • creating artwork

Successful applicants are expected to engage fully in the project, and make the most of the opportunities the project offers. You will need to:

  • Attend 5 half-day sessions, 3 in May-June and 2 in Sept-Oct 2017.
  • Attend event planning meetings in the run-up to Christmas Light Festival in November 2017.
  • Work on the project in your own time to ensure progress is made between sessions.
  • Commit to a 3-5 day trip in Jul-Aug 2017.

Do I need to speak another language?

If you happen to speak the language that's great. If not, don't worry. We'll get English-speakers to show you around while you're abroad!

How to get involved

Tell us why you're interested by 27 April 2017. Your application can be in any of the following formats:
