Barton Community

Introduction to Barton

Built in 1946, the estate was originally developed to provide social housing for residents of Oxford. Barton Park, a new development of 885 homes, is currently being built and is likely to bring a further 3,000 new people into the area. As of 2011, Barton had 3,700 residents.

According to the Indices of Multiple Deprivation data, Barton is one of the most deprived areas in Oxford and England as a whole. Barton is a very close knit community and is appreciated locally as a good place to live.
