Other councils have failed with alternate weekly collections. Why should this work in Oxford?

Although over 200 (out of 477) UK local authorities have successfully implemented alternate weekly collections, with growing numbers putting similar plans into action, only around 11 councils have had to revert to weekly collections for various reasons.

Those local authorities with the highest recycling rates have found that alternate weekly collection is key to encouraging residents to recycle.

We believe that many of Oxford's residents understand the need to recycle more of their waste.
