Common RingGo Enquiries

What is RingGo?

RingGo is a way to pay for your parking using just a mobile phone and a credit or debit card. For more information, visit our RingGo - Pay for Parking by Phone page.

How do I use the RingGo service?

If you want to use RingGo in an Oxford car park, simply dial 01865 989 000 and follow the instructions. Please also see the RingGo - Pay for Parking by Phone page of our website.

How much does it cost to call the RingGo service?

When you call the RingGo service from an Oxford car park, so long as you use the number 01865 989 000 as shown on the signs in Oxford car parks, you will be making a local phone call. The call duration, once you have registered, will often be less than a minute, so the call cost will be minimal.  In addition, local rate calls are often included within bundled calls on mobile phone tariffs, so may effectively be free of charge.

Are there any extra charges when I park with RingGo?

There is an additional 20p convenience fee for paying to park with RingGo.

If you order either a text confirmation message of your parking session being paid, or a text reminder, for when your parking is going to run out, you will be charged for these texts, at a cost of 10p per text message.

Where is RingGo available?

RingGo is available across the country. For more information please visit the Where It Works pages of the RingGo website.

What payment cards are accepted by RingGo?

We accept payments by VISA, MasterCard, Solo and Maestro.

Do I have to pre-register to use RingGo?

No, you don't need to pre-register to use RingGo - you can register over the phone when you want to park the first time.  However, it will save you time when you are parking if you are pre-registered. Visit the RingGo website to register now.

Can I get a VAT receipt when I use RingGo?

If you need a VAT receipt for your RingGo parking session, you can view and print it online at the My RingGo website. For security you will be asked to enter your 4 digit PIN which was provided to you at the first time of use. If you have forgotten your RingGo PIN you can be sent a reminder. Visit the Pin Request page of the My RingGo website for further details.

RingGo Gold members can have their VAT receipts automatically emailed to them on a 3, 6 or 12 month basis for a small fee. Visit the Gold Benefits page of the My RingGo website for further details.

Can I pay in advance for my parking with RingGo?

We advise that you should not pay in advance for your parking session for two reasons. Firstly, because you may not be able to subsequently find a space in your chosen location. Secondly, because the metered time of the parking session will commence as soon as you finish making the RingGo call.

Can I call RingGo from a landline?

Yes, you can call RingGo from a landline, but only if you have a pre-registered mobile account. When calling from a landline you will need to quote your mobile number and the four digit PIN code you were given when you first registered.

Can I add additional vehicles to my RingGo account?

Yes, you can add vehicles to your RingGo account. Just login to the My RingGo website, go to the "My Summary" section and select "My Vehicles".  Select the "Add a Vehicle" link and complete the details.

How can I check to see if I've paid for a parking space correctly?

Each time you use the RingGo service your call will end with a clear statement of the parking session that you have purchased. If in doubt simply call back using the same phone that you used to make the original call. If a valid session has been purchased then the details will be summarised. Once you are certain simply ring off.

As an alternative you can check on the My RingGo website, where all your current and past parking sessions are shown under the "Monthly Statements" section.

For added peace of mind you can elect to receive a text confirmation (at an additional cost of 10p) to be sent each time you park.

Don't I need a parking ticket when I use RingGo? How do parking attendants know my car is parked properly?

When you park with RingGo no ticket is created. Because your car will not be displaying a ticket the parking attendant will look up your number plate on the handheld unit that they use as a check. This will confirm whether you have a valid parking session booked with RingGo. They can then act accordingly.

What happens if I get a parking ticket?

If you've used the service correctly, and you've parked within the boundaries of an appropriate and marked bay in accordance with the rules, your parking ticket will be cancelled by the enforcing authority. You must appeal to the city council. You'll find contact details on signs in the car park, or most conveniently on the charge notice itself.

Is there a telephone number I can ring for help with RingGo?

If you are having difficulty parking with RingGo your call will automatically go through to our customer support help line. If you can't find the answer to a question there, please contact RingGo via the Contact Us page of their website

Can I use text to pay for a parking space?

RingGo Text - the service enabling you to pay for a parking space by text - is only available to RingGo Gold members. Visit the Gold Benefits page of the My RingGo website for further details.

To use RingGo Text as a RingGo Gold member go to your "favourite" parking location with your preferred vehicle and send a text to 07781 486250 using the following pattern:

<location number> <duration & unit> <card security code> - all separated by spaces and in that exact order.

For example 1902 1d 867 or 1625 1h 541

where the duration unit is: m = minute, h = hour, d = day, and w = week.

What happens if the battery on my phone goes flat before I can call RingGo?

What if I haven't got a mobile phone and cannot use RingGo?

The Pay and Display machines are still available for use. If you haven't got a mobile phone, you can continue to use them.

How can I find out my RingGo PIN?

If you have forgotten or lost your RingGo PIN we can send it to you via text message. Please visit the Pin Request page of the My RingGo website for more details.

Please note that this service is limited to one text per day and we can only send to mobile phones.

What should I do if I lose telephone signal whilst calling RingGo?

If you were part way through booking with RingGo and your parking session had not been verbally confirmed, you will need to start the booking procedure again.

What will happen if I enter an incorrect Vehicle Registration Number when using RingGo?

The system will usually spot if the vehicle registration number you enter is incorrect and give you the option to change it as part of the registration call.

What will happen to my RingGo account if I change my mobile phone?

RingGo operates by recognizing the calling line identity (CLI) of your mobile phone.  If you change your mobile phone, you will need to update the details on your RingGo account, to continue to use the service.  You can do this at the My RingGo website.

Alternatively, you can set up and register a new account, with your new mobile phone, if you only realize once you are in the car park.

How do I know I'll be charged the right tariff when I use RingGo?

The tariff you are charged is based on the location code and duration you specify for the parking session. As long as you quote the correct location, you will be charged the right tariff for that car park.

The parking meters are out of order. What should I do?

There is no need to report the failure. Modern parking meters are monitored remotely.  Even if the parking meters are out of order, RingGo will be operational. Unless local signage indicates that the car park is closed you can continue to pay for your parking as normal.

Can you cancel my parking fine?

If you have received a parking fine; please follow the Appeals procedure found on the back of the parking fine ticket.

I forgot to park via RingGo, can I now pay for my earlier parking session?

RingGo sessions commence from the time that the payment is taken. They cannot be backdated or used to pay for earlier parking sessions. If a period of time has elapsed between the time at which the vehicle is left unattended and the time at which the RingGo session is booked then there is the risk that a penalty notice will be issued.

Can I park for more than one day or week at a time?

The maximum stay differs depending on the location in which you have parked. Details will be shown on local signage. In some cases you will find that the RingGo service will let you park for longer than is indicated on local signage.

Can I transfer my current parking session to a different car?

No. RingGo sessions are not transferable between vehicles. If you have purchased a parking session of several days duration there is no facility to transfer that session to a different vehicle. You will need to make a further payment in respect of that alternative vehicle.

Can I move my car to another car park?

No. RingGo sessions relate solely to the location for which the original session was booked.

If I have a current parking session booked can I change it to another day?

No, I'm afraid not. You will be charged for your current parking session and you'll have to create a new parking session for the other day.
