The scheme applies to people of fare paying age where your main residence is in the Oxford City Council area and falls into one or more of the following nine categories:
For all categories you are required to provide proof that your Main Residence is in Oxford. E.g. Council tax bill, Tenancy agreement, Utility bill (dated in the last three months), Driving licence, NHS Medical card. (More than one proof may be required).
Please note any supporting letters from your GP / Specialist consultant must confirm under which disability category you are applying and worded specifically to confirm the disability, see highlighted wording in the "proof required" section. | 1. Senior Citizen (Aged 60 years and over) |
A document that contains your name address and date of birth, e.g. Passport, Birth Certificate (and marriage certificate for women), Driving licence, Medical card. You will not be entitled to a bus pass If you have a visa limiting your stay in the UK, where you have no recourse to public funds. |
| 2. People who are severely sight impaired or sight impaired | A letter from your GP, a certificate of vision Impairment from a consultant Ophthalmologist or confirmation from The Royal National institute for the Blind. |
| 3. People who are severely or profoundly deaf | A letter from your GP stating that your hearing level is severe 70 - 95 dBHL or profound 95+dBHL |
| 4. People who are without speech | GP letter, which confirms that you are unable to make clear basic oral requests. Unable to ask specific questions to clarify instructions. NB Persons whose speech is slow or have a severe stammer do not qualify. |
| 5. People who have a disability or have suffered an injury, which has a substantial and long term adverse impact on walking ability. This means that you cannot walk or you are virtually unable to walk. | 1.GP letter confirming that your walking ability is permanently and substantially impaired (greater than 12 months). 2. An award notice letter for the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance. 3. An award letter for War pensioner's mobility supplement. 4. Has been issued with a disabled persons' parking badge ("Blue Badge"). |
| 6. People who do not have arms or have long term loss of the use of both arms | GP letter confirming the loss of use of both arms is long term (more than 12 months). |
| 7. People who have a learning disability, a reduced ability to understand new or complex information, difficulty in learning new skills, unable to cope independently. These disabilities must have started before adulthood and have a lasting effect on development. | GP letter confirming that you have a learning disability which started before adulthood. |
| 8. People who would, if they applied for a driving licence, have an application refused under section 92 of the Road Traffic Act, 1988 (physical fitness) other than on the grounds of persistent misuse of drugs or alcohol. | A notification letter from the DVLC or a letter from your GP or relevant professional, confirming on what grounds you would currently be barred and that in their opinion a driving licence would not be granted under section 92 of the Road Traffic Act. |

A combined disabled and companions pass is available to any disabled groups who cannot travel independently because of serious disability. | A letter from your GP, specialist, Social Services or relevant professional organisation confirming your disability and that you are unable to travel alone due to your disability. |
