Transport schemes and services which take into account the accessibility needs of older people or anyone with a disability or mobility problem.

What is the Blue Badge Parking Scheme and how do I apply?

The national Blue Badge scheme provides a range of parking benefits for disabled people who travel either as drivers or as passengers. The scheme operates throughout the UK.

Oxfordshire County Council are responsible for administering the Blue Badge Scheme in Oxford. To find out who is eligible for a badge, how to apply and how to renew your badge, visit the Blue Badge Scheme section of the Oxfordshire County Council website.

Can I get discounts on travel in Oxford?

If you are over 60 or disabled and your main residence is in the Oxford City Council boundaries, we can provide you with a concessionary bus pass to get free or discounted bus travel in the city. Visit our Concessionary Bus Pass page for information on how to apply for a concessionary bus pass.

You can also get discounted nationwide rail travel if you are over 60 or disabled. Visit the National Railcard website for details on how to apply for a Young Persons, Senior, Family, Network or Disabled Persons railcard.

Where can I find out information about special transport services in Oxford?

We provide the Oxfordshire Community Transport Accessible Bus (OCTABUS) in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council, Vale of White Horse and West Oxfordshire. Visit the Special Transport Service pages of the Oxfordshire County Council website for information on transport services for people who cannot use public transport in Oxfordshire.

To use this transport, arrangements cannot be made directly but must be made by a care manager or social worker who will assess your need. If you are considered to be eligible, they can then make a request for the service to be provided.

Do you provide a service for people with mobility problems who want to get around the centre of Oxford?
