Transport Accessibility

Here is information on the accessibility of local transport links.

If you are visiting Oxford and use a wheelchair the Park and Ride service is accessible.  Alternative if you have a car there are over 90 accessible blue badge spaces available or the Shopmobility service is open Monday - Friday, 9.30am - 4.00 pm.

Taxi Services

Wheelchair accessible taxis are available from the taxi companies listed below.  Please note they can only take manual wheelchairs and smaller type electric wheelchairs.

Park and Ride

All Park & Ride buses have the wheelchair accessible kneeling step with fold-down ramp. Different payment concessions apply so please check before you board the bus whether you need to pay for parking.

Route No. 300. Accessed from A40 Witney, M5, A44 Woodstock/Stratford, A4260 Kidlington, A34 Banbury/Bicester/Northampton (A43) M40 M6 M1.  Enters Oxford along the Woodstock Road.

Redbridge

Route No. 300.  Accessed from A34 Abingdon/ Didcot/Newbury  M4, A4074 Henley/Reading.  Enters Oxford along the Abingdon Road.

Seacourt Route No. 400.  Accessed from the A420 Swindon/Bath, or A34 Abingdon as Redbridge and A40 Witney as Peartree, both of which are further around the ring road in different directions.  Enters Oxford along the Botley Road.
Thornhill Route 400.  Accessed from A40 Thame/Aylesbury/High Wycombe, London M40 M25.  Enters Oxford along the Headington Road.
Water Eaton Route No. 500.  Accessed from A44 Woodstock/Stratford, A4260 Kidlington, A34 Banbury, Bicester, Northampton (A43) M40  M6 M1.  Enters Oxford along the Banbury Road.

Railway Station

The railway station is fully accessible and has accessible WC and lifts.  Some bus routes stop outside, many of which are wheelchair accessible.  Taxi rank available.  All approached via gentle ramps.

Passengers with disabilities should pre-book their journey to ensure that the necessary support is available to them.  Details are set out in a leaflet 'Rail Travel for Disabled Passengers' which contains an application form for a Disabled Persons Railcard.

For deaf and hearing impaired travellers a National Rail Enquiries minicom service can be contacted on 0845 6050600.

Local Buses

Many of the local buses have either kneeling buses or ramps.  To check the route and availability it is advisable to ring.

Travels to London daily.  Wheelchair access available, ring to check for times and arrangements. Tel: 01865 772200

Car access to Bus Station

The Bus Station is in Gloucester Green, off George Street.  Cars are not normally allowed into the bus station, so you need to make arrangements in advance if you wish to drop off or collect a disabled passenger.  Please try to give 24 hour notice.  Tel: 01865 794307.
