Oxford City Council
Core StrategyOxford City Council is preparing a document called the Core Strategy that will set out the pattern of development across Oxford until 2026. This means that it will, for example, identify which broad areas are suitable for housing and other strategic development needs. The Core Strategy will be a key document within Oxford's Local Development Framework (LDF). SubmissionThe Core Strategy DPD was submitted to the Secretary of State on 21 Nov 2008 together with the following documents: Copies of representations received on the Proposed Submission:
Submission Proposals Map incorporating changes arising from the Core Strategy (see Appendix 6 of the Proposed Submission document) and adopted West End AAP. Please note these maps are large documents and may take some time to download depending on your internet connection:
Paper copies of all the documents can be viewed at the City Council's offices at Ramsay House and at the Centre for Oxfordshire Studies in the Central Library. At the libraries at Blackbird Leys, Bury Knowle, Old Marston, Littlemore, Summertown and Cowley, most documents are in paper form but the Submission Proposals Map, copies of the original duly made representations and supporting documents can be viewed in electronic (CD) format. Proposed SubmissionThe Proposed Submission document was been prepared according to the new Local Development (Amendment) Regulations 2008. It makes provision through the 'transitional arrangements' for the consultation already undertaken at previous stages of the Core Strategy to act as a proxy for the consultation requirements of the new regulations. We consulted on the Proposed Submission in Sept/Oct 2008. Comments received have been logged and have fed into the production of the Submission document and Examination in Spring 2009. The Proposed Submission is supported by background papers and an extensive evidence base, all of which can be downloaded from this website. See link above for background evidence page.
Earlier stages of the Core StrategyIssues and Options - June 2006 At the initial stage of producing the Core Strategy, the City Council consulted on the "Issues and Options" paper in June/July 2006. This gave the people of Oxford, and others, the opportunity to shape and influence the Core Strategy in its first stage of preparation. Below are the documents relating to the Issues and Options stage.
Preferred Options - March 2007 After the Issues and Options, we produced the Preferred Options paper on which we undertook a 6 week consultation. This paper and the results of the public consultation can be viewed below:
Further Preferred Options - March 2008 After the Preferred Options, it was necessary to consult upon a second round of Preferred Options in order to reflect a change in circumstances arising from the publication of the South East Plan Panel Report in Aug 2007. This new document will be known as the Further Preferred Options and is available to download below.
The Sustainability Appraisal of the Core Strategy as amended following the Further Preferred Options is available to view on the SA page. Paper copies of all documents are available for purchase. Please contact us using the details on the right of this page if you require further information.
