Released on 24 Aug 2006

Oxford's Shopmobility centre is now open on Saturdays for people to use after customer demand for the service.

Councillor David Rundle, Executive Member for Stronger Communities, says: "Many people had asked us to extend the service and open on Saturdays.

"I am pleased that we have recognised that this is a worthwhile service and we are now be able to offer the service to visitors and residents from this weekend.

"It's coming up to Shopmobility's tenth birthday and this is an early birthday present to all its users."

Customers wanting to use the Shopmobility scheme are asked to book it in advance, if possible, to ensure that a scooter or wheelchair is available.

Users of the service are also entitled to free parking at the Westgate centre, in the Shopmobility area.

Shopmobility will now been open Monday to Saturdays (except Bank Holidays) from 9.30am until 4pm. For further information on Shopmobility contact 01865 248 737 or visit Level 1a in the Westgate Car Park.
