Third Annual Oxford Mela - 22 June
Released on 19 May 2008
This year's Oxford Mela will take place on 22nd June 2008 at Cowley Marsh Park. It is a free family event for all the family to enjoy, participate in, and celebrate Oxford's diverse communities .
The event is organised by Oxford City Council with its partners Thames Valley Police and Oxford Brookes University.
There are still opportunities for organisations to become involved by sponsoring an activity or having a market stall.
The morning will feature modern and traditional sports from all around the world including football, skater hockey, kabbadi, volleyball, martial arts and more.
The afternoon will focus on entertainment, music, information share, fun and food. There will be workshops for drumming, dancing, circus skills and mask making for children and adults.
Antonia Bance, City Executive Board Member says, "This year the event promises to be a bigger success than last. I would encourage everyone to support the event by participating in the sporting and cultural activities on offer."
