City and County work together on P&R

Released on 23 Apr 2008

It was agreed at Oxford City Council's Executive Board meeting on 21 April 2008 to postpone for one week the decision about the transfer of the city's Park and Ride sites to Oxfordshire County Council. This was to allow for details of the agreement to be confirmed. The matter will be presented at the next Executive Board meeting on 28 April 2008.

Peter Sloman, Chief Executive, Oxford City Council says, "In contrast to recent reports in the press, Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council are pleased to be working in partnership. It is unfortunate that in an area of closer agreed joint working that the press are reporting the opposite impression.

"The next report will set out how the two councils will liaise with each other in advance of decisions being taken by either council which impact on strategic traffic management in the city.

"Both councils look forward to this cooperative style of working.

"The principle of the report is not in doubt. The decision was merely delayed for a week while the finer details are discussed."
