Consultation on Oxford's Future

Released on 7 Mar 2008

We're holding public drop-in sessions to give Oxford residents and local organisations another chance to air their views on where major new developments should be located in the City.

Oxford City Council is currently preparing a 'Core Strategy Further Preferred Options' planning report that will shape how and where the City will grow until 2026. The new document has been created following feedback from consultation on our 'Core Strategy Preferred Options' document in March 2007.

Urban extension

We want to consult people on some new options including the recommendation that there should be an urban extension on land south of Grenoble Road.

This recommendation was made by an independent Panel of Inspectors examining the draft South East Plan. Although he urban extension would be on land outside the Oxford City boundary, there would be important implications for transport links to the rest of the city and regeneration in Cowley and Blackbird Leys.

Your views

We want to hear your views on the 'Core Strategy Further Preferred Options' report. The report is available from our Planning Policy Team or theĀ Core Strategy page of our website. A questionnaire on the subject will be available shortly. You are also welcome to call in at any time during one of the following drop-in sessions:

The consultation period closes on Friday 18 April.
