Oxford City Council has reinforced its official backing of the Save Radley Lakes Campaign.

The Council's Executive Board agreed to send a letter to RWE npower welcoming its decision to defer the filling of Radley Lakes with coal ash from Didcot power station and inviting the company to re-open a dialogue with Radley Parish Council to discuss the future of the lakes.

The Executive Board also encouraged the Save Radley Lakes campaign to seek other forms of support from the Council. This may include a free venue for a public rally (at the discretion of the Lord Mayor) and applying for an emergency grant (through the established procedure).

The Council will also ask the Oxfordshire Waste Partnership to write to RWE npower collectively in support of the Save Radley Lakes campaign.

The Save Radley Lakes campaign need to raise funds to support Radley Parish Council in the ongoing judicial review into their Town or Village Green application. The campaign is looking to secure the long-term future of the lakes.
