Benefit Fraud Prosecutions Continue

Miss Tracey Ellicott of Wytham Street, Oxford has been successfully prosecuted by Oxford City Council for Housing and Council Tax Benefit fraud.
Miss Ellicott was overpaid Housing Benefit of £3,118.73 and Council tax Benefit of £636.73 from 20 November 2006 - 30 July 2007, as she failed to declare a change in her circumstances.
Miss Ellicott made a false statement in August 2007 as she informed Oxford City Council that her partner had commenced work in April 2007. In fact, her partner commenced work for Oxfordshire County Council in November 2006.
Miss Ellicott appeared before Oxford City Magistrates on 21 July 2008. She pleaded guilty to the charges that were read out to her and the case was adjourned until 15 August 2008 for a probation report.
Julie Evans
Mrs Julie Evans of Taggs Gate, Barton, Oxford has also been successfully prosecuted by Oxford City Council and The Department for Work and Pensions for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Income support fraud.
Mrs Julie Evans was overpaid Housing Benefit of £6,534.84, Council Tax Benefit of £1,651.59 and Income support of £14,895.11 from 30 May 2005 - 1 April 2007, as she failed to declare a change in her circumstances.
Her husband moved back to Taggs Gate as of May 2005 and Mrs Evans did not inform Oxford City Council or the Department for Work and Pensions and continued to claim benefit as a single parent.
Mrs Evans appeared before Oxford City Magistrates Court on 21 July 2008. She pleaded guilty to all charges put before her and the case was adjourned until 12 August 2008 for probation reports.
