Core Strategy Proposed Submission published

Released on 5 Sep 2008

 News Oxford

The Council's Core Strategy Development Plan Document Proposed Submission was published on 5 September 2008. The Core Strategy will set out the pattern of development across Oxford until 2026.

The Core Strategy includes policies that affect many aspects of our daily lives for example where we live and work, where we shop and how we spend our leisure time. These policies relate to key elements of the planning framework for Oxford, including which broad areas are suitable for housing and other strategic development needs.

Specific large areas for development include employment provision near Pear Tree and new housing to the west of Barton to help facilitate the regeneration of this area. It also sets out how we aim to help the integration of the urban extension south of Grenoble Road into the wider Oxford area in order to benefit the existing communities of Blackbird Leys, Greater Leys, Littlemore and Cowley.

The Core Strategy Proposed Submission document has been prepared after extensive consultation with the public. The final six-week consultation period runs from 5 September until 17 October 2008 and representations can be made during this period. Any representations that are made should correspond to one of the tests of soundness. Details of the tests of soundness can be found on the representations form.

To view the document and to download a representations form, please visit theĀ Core Strategy page of our website.

The Core Strategy document will be submitted to the Secretary of State in November 2008 and will be examined by an Independent Inspector in April 2009, who will assess the plan against the tests of soundness.
