Have your say on the future look of the city
Released on 30 Apr 2007
We're holding public workshops to discuss a document that will form the basis of planning policy in the city over the next 20 years.
The Core Strategy will include policies that affect many aspects of our lives - from where we live to where we work, from where and how we shop to where and how we spend our leisure time. It will, for example, set out how much housing should be built in Oxford, and which broad areas are suitable for new housing.
The Planning department asked for your views on the first stage of this document during the summer and has taken these into account. The planners now want to hear your thoughts on the revised document. There will be another chance to comment on the final version of the document early next year.
The aim of the workshops is to encourage public participation in the planning system. It is an opportunity for us to explain why the Core Strategy is important and for members of the public to help influence its contents. We hope that the workshops will be informal and friendly events.
There are three workshops being held across the City:
- Tuesday 1 May (6.00 pm) - Cheney School, Headington
- Thursday 3 May (6.00 pm) - Rose Hill Community Centre
- Tuesday 8 May (6.00 pm) - Town Hall, St Aldate's
If anyone would like more information and cannot make any of the workshops there are opportunities to comment on the Core Strategy by completing a questionnaire which is available from Ramsay House, St Ebbe's, or by contacting planning policy on 01865 252847.
