Date Set for Former Boatyard Inquiry

Released on 6 Jun 2008

 News Jericho Boatyard

The plans by Spring Residential to build 45 flats on the former Jericho Boatyard site are due to be heard at a public inquiry in the Town Hall starting on 12th August 2008.

The Council's Central South and West Area Committee had refused planning permission in December 2007 but Spring appealed against that decision.

Councillor Colin Cook, one of the councillors for Jericho, says: "The Council and Spring had asked the Government's Planning Inspectorate to hold the appeal in September after the holiday period, but it did not agree to our request and the public inquiry will now take place in August.

"This is not ideal, but we are committed now to the August date. Having a different date imposed upon us by the Planning Inspectorate may have made it impossible for the council's barrister to attend."

The inquiry is expected to last six days.
