Easter Holiday Activities for Young People
Released on 3 Apr 2008
Youngsters from four Oxford estates will be able to spend their Easter break playing sports or doing arts and crafts on school holiday activity schemes, thanks to funding from Oxford City Council.
This is the third year that Oxford City Council has funded activities for young people between the ages of 5 and 19 in Barton, Wood Farm, Blackbird Leys and Rose Hill.
The aim of the project is to channel young peoples' energies into activities that they want to do. Young people will be able to take part in a number of activities including football, going to the gym, cricket, rounders, basketball, tennis, rugby, dance, arts and crafts, filmmaking, music technology, and cookery.
Neil Holman, Active Communities Partnership Manager, says: "The funding that Oxford City Council has put into this project has made a huge impact in the local area and I hope that the young people enjoy these Easter activities.
"The aim is to engage young people in positive activities and improve quality of life in our communities."
The programmes will be based at the following sites from 7 to 17 April 2008:
