All-Weather Pitch Given the Green Light

Released on 20 Mar 2008

 News All-Weather Pitch

Football and netball in Oxford have been given a boost by the decision to support proposals to develop an all-weather sports pitch in Marston.

Oxford City Council has granted a lease to enable the development of an all-weather sports pitch on land at Court Place Farm, Marston. The scheme can now move forward to the next stage.

Oxford City Football Club and Oxfordshire Netball Association submitted a joint proposal to the Council to build a full size all-weather pitch along with six hard court surfaces suitable for netball at the site.

Approval was given for the initial plans at the Council's Executive Board on Monday 17 March.

The Council's decision will allow the clubs involved to secure external funding for their project.

John Wade, Parks Manager at Oxford City Council, says: "This scheme would meet a need identified in the Council's Green Spaces Strategy so we are delighted that it has been given the go-ahead.

"We are committed to helping provide good leisure facilities for the people of Oxford to stay active and healthy."
