Council applies for extension to licensing
Released on 11 Apr 2008
Oxford City Council has submitted an application to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government to extend the licensing requirements for Houses in Multiple Occupation.
The extension to the licence will apply to all three-storey and two-storey houses occupied by five or more people.
If the approval is granted the new requirements would come into force three months later at which point we will inform landlords.
John Copley, Head of Environmental Development says, "The extension would mean that more houses in Oxford are licensed so we can ensure that they are safe and properly managed."
