Released on 2 Oct 2008
Staff from two Oxford City Council teams celebrated the World's Biggest Coffee Morning by staging their own coffee morning and cake sale on Friday 26 September.
The Council's Community Safety Team and Benefit Fraud Team raised nearly £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support by selling home-baked cakes to colleagues.
Sainsbury's in the Westgate Centre donated a voucher for raffle prizes and Tesco on Cowley Road donated the tea, coffee and sugar.
Jill McEachern, Community Safety Information Officer, says: "It was a real team effort and a great event, we're proud to have raised so much money for such a good cause."
One of those buying coffee and cake was Councillor Susanna Pressel, Lord Mayor of Oxford. Councillor Pressel, says: "It's a smashing idea to have this enormous national coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.
"I am pleased that some of the City Council officers are taking part. I was very happy to go along and support them - and the cake was delicious."
