Friends of Parks

What is a Friends Group?

By becoming a friend of your local park, you can

  • help improve the park's appearance
  • have a say in the park's facilities
  • improve the local conservation value 
  • increase the park's safety.

The groups are independent, but work in partnership with the Council.

Why join a group?
  • the groups are a great way to meet new people
  • make a positive contribution to your local area
  • get exercise, improve your health and wellbeing
  • tackle vandalism and crime in the parks
  • influence future improvements to the park
  • apply for funding to improve the park
  • organise community events
  • access training
  • enhance your skills
  • improve your employment prospects

Trap Grounds

The Friends of Trap Grounds support the conservation and management of the Trap Grounds in North Oxford.

Activities

What can Friends do? As Friends of Parks are independent groups, they have a say in what their purpose is and what activities they take part in and organise. The council will help the group decide what the park's priorities are, as each park will have a management plan.
