The Gallery

The Gallery opened its doors on 10 May 2006 with an inaugural exhibition by Oxford Art Society, combining over 100 pieces of sculpture, watercolours and oil paintings.

	The Gallery at Oxford Town Hall

This room is versatile multi-functional space suitable for art displays, exhibitions, product launches and small trade fairs.

It is the fulfilment of a dream for many members of the Oxford art community. It has been created out of a beautiful unused space on the ground floor of the Town Hall and is an exciting example of a sensitive conversion of a Victorian space.  This conversion was recognised by the Oxford Preservation Trust in 2007 with the presentation of a certificate.

Size

12.3m x 7.35m 
An example of maximum size is around 100 pieces of art work of varying sizes on the walls and additional space for sculptures. We also have display stands of about 24ft in length that can also be used to hang the smaller artworks in the gaps between pillars.

Room Rates

The space can be hired at the daily rate including hanging/clearing days. If you wish to have an opening show in the evening then we are happy to discuss this.

Hanging and Security

We use hanging rails and have a selection of perlon cables and hanging rods to provide variety of positioning and height. We do not use screws/fixtures into the walls.

Whilst there is camera security we do not have onsite security personnel in the room therefore you may provide someone to invigilate during opening hours of an exhibition or you may leave the room unattended as long as your work is insured.  You will be required to sign a waiver (see Info Pack document).  The room will be locked outside of the opening hours you specify.

Entrance costs

We would not expect you to charge for entrance to the gallery but you are welcome to use the space to display your works and wares for sale.

The Gallery Corridor

We also have The Gallery Corridor available for individual artists to display pictures/paintings only.  The space is adjacent to The Gallery and the Gallery Cafe.  It can hold approximately 18 works of art.  It is booked on a calendar month basis and is free to hire but all sales are subject to 20% commission.
