Disabled AdaptationsOxford City Homes Disabled Adaptations Team is responsible for carrying out alterations and adaptations to Council homes following recommendations from the Occupational Therapist (OT). Examples of Adaptations that are carried out include;
What should I do if my home does not meet my needs?
If you are having difficulty managing in your home because of illness or infirmity you should contact your General Practioner (GP) or Social Services. What will happen next?Your GP or Social Services will refer you to the Access Team who will assess your needs taking into account your situation and how urgent your needs are. Depending on your needs the OT may recommend;
The OT working for Social Services will then make a detailed recommendation (called a Referral). What happens if adaptations are recommended?The Disabled Adaptations team carries out the work in accordance with the Referral and within financial constraints. How long will it take?The Disabled Adaptations team will normally complete the work within 3 months of the Referral. Is a Referral from an OT always necessary?Due to the limited funding available a Referral will always be required except in the case of minor adaptations such as grab-rails. Useful contacts
