Getting InvolvedBelow you will find information on the recycling services we offer to different groups in Oxford City, as well as ways to get more involved. How we are helping the community? There are two ways in which we are actively helping you to recycle in Oxford. Recycling ChampionsRecycling Champions are members of the public who volunteer to give advice and help to neighbours, and to encourage as many people as possible to recycle. We regularly contact champions so that they are able to spread the word about recycling in Oxford. Each Champion decides upon the amount of time they can commit, and how they would like to be involved. There is no standard. We want you to decide what your contribution to be. Champions are never asked to spy or snoop on their neighbours. They are not the "bin police." Champions are given lots of support from us, and they know who they can talk to on some of the more complicated issues. To become a champion just contact us and we will talk through everything with you. Community Action GroupsCommunity Action Groups (CAGs) are made up of local volunteers who run reduce, reuse and recycle events. For full details of events and to become involved please visit the CAG website. What events are run in city?In 2008 we will be participating in a number of events to promote recycling in Oxford:
How are we helping schools to recycle? We are actively working with schools to educate children about recycling.
We support and part fund the Wild Waste Show, a free roadshow aimed at educating and raising awareness about recycling and the problems caused by waste. We have worked with closely with Oxford Community School on the Eco-schools programme and they have now received a Green Flag Award. If you would like to schedule a visit to your school please contact us using the details on the right of this page.
