Bulky Waste Collections

We can remove bulky waste from your home if it is too big for the normal refuse collection. We will take up to 3 items at one time free of charge.

To request a collection, please contact us using the details on the right of this page.

Furniture and electrical items

Emmaus Oxford can reuse some furniture or electrical equipment which is in good condition and redistribute it to people in Oxford on low incomes. You may want to contact them before asking for a bulky waste collection from the Council.

For more details, phone Emmaus Oxford on 01865 763698 (9.30am-12.30pm Monday-Friday) or email furniture@emmausoxford.org.

White Goods

We collect the following white goods free of charge. These items may be collected on a different day to other bulky items organised for collection at the same time. A white good is defined as any of the items below. If does not necessarily have to be white in colour:

  • Washing Machine
  • Dish Washer
  • Micro Wave
  • Cooker
  • Hob
  • Tumble Dryer

Fridges and Freezers

We collect fridges and freezers free of charge. These items may be collected on a different day to other bulky items organised for collection at the same time.

A combined fridge/freezer is classified as one item. The item for collection must be cleaned out and no food left inside.

If you are a non-residential property, we are unable to collect your fridge or freezer. Please contact one of the private companies below or take the item to Redbridge Recycling Centre:

Builders waste

We cannot collect builders waste. This includes rubble, and fittings such as kitchen/bathroom cabinets, baths, sinks and toilets.

These items can be disposed of at Redbridge Waste Recycling Centre, just off the Abingdon Road. There may be a charge applicable to some items.

Collection Points

Items left out for collection must be visible and accessible on the property.

Collections from the side or rear of the property and accessed via an unlocked side or rear gate are permitted.

Collections from unlocked garages are also permitted.

Collection exceptions:

  • If a property is terraced then we will arrange a collection appointment with you so items can be put out on the pavement on that specific day.
  • If you live in a flat we will ask for the items to be brought down to the ground level. If this is not possible a site survey may be needed.
  • Elderly or disabled people may not be able to place items out and may need our staff to go onto their property. Our staff are not insured to access the property and if damage is caused, the Council will not accept any liability.

Items we do not collect

We do not collect the following items on our bulky waste collection service, as they cannot be disposed of at landfill sites.

Please contact Redbridge Recycling Centre on 01865 721464 to find out if they will accept collection of any of the items below.

If Redbridge are not able to accept items, please contact Oxfordshire County Council on 08450 50 45 50 for advice.
