Postal voting and proxy voting
You can now have a postal vote on demand so you do not have to give a reason for having it. Postal votes can be obtained for
- a particular election
- a defined period of time
- indefinitely
To apply for proxy votes you still need to give a reason and if you are applying indefinitely someone qualified will have to certify that the reason is correct.
IMPORTANT NOTE
From early 2007 new regulations require the Council to collect "personal identifiers" from all postal voters. These identifiers (signature and date of birth) will used to check postal votes cast at election time, in an attempt to prevent and detect electoral fraud and to protect your vote.
Applicants can fill in the new postal vote application form, linked from the right-hand side of this page. Please make sure that you complete all parts of the form, as appropriate.
Please then deliver it to the Town Hall or post it to us at the address on the right of this page.
