We have carried out a review of the boundaries of the four parishes in Oxford:
After consultations with these parishes we decided to hold referendums in four areas:
These referendums were used to judge local feeling. A note and ballot paper was sent to each elector in the affected areas in Spring 2004.
The referendum papers are available to view from 'related documents' on the right-hand menu, or by selecting the relevant link below:
| Risinghurst referendum papers |
| Wood Farm/Quarry referendum papers |
| Barton referendum papers |
| Rose Hill referendum papers |
The results were as follows:
| Area | Question | Votes for in | Votes for out | Turnout |
| Risinghurst | Should the non-parished part of the Risinghurst estate be brought into the parish? | 137 | 118 | 44.7% |
| Wood Farm | Should the parished part of Wood Farm remain in the parish?) | 144 | 77 | 44.0% |
| Barton | Should the parished part of Barton remain in the parish? | 7 | 19 | 26.8% |
| Rose Hill | Should the parished part of the Rose Hill estate remain in the parish?) | 169 | 222 | 26.3% |
We placed an advert in the Oxford Mail on Fri 12 Jan asking for comments on the results of the these referendums and any other issues. The two area committees concerned (Sout East and North East) will also be consulted during Feb.
The parish review notes are available from the Town Hall offices on Blue Boar Street offices or from 'related documents' on the right-hand menu.
Full Council recommended to the government that the parished part of the Rose Hill estate come out of Littlemore Parish Council's area and the unparished part of Risinghurst go into Risinhghurst and Sandhills Parish Council's area.
LATEST POSITION
After some considerable delays the government, in early January 2008, issued a draft legal Order giving effect to the Council's recommended changes. The government hopes that the changes can be implemented in April this year.
