Get involved in your Area CommitteeHave you been along to your local Area Committee yet? It's a great chance to contribute to Council decisions in your area. Area Committee meetings are open to the public. Local councillors, officers, police and NHS representatives discuss a range of issues about your local area, including crime, planning, environment, community matters, and health issues. The agenda for each Area Committee meeting is published a week prior to the meeting. You can view the agendas, meeting dates and venues on our Council Meeting page. Am I able to speak during an Area Committee meeting? Each Area Committee has an open session where you can raise any local issue. The Chair also invites comments from members of the public on other agenda items. If you wish to speak at an Area Committee meeting it is useful to notify the Committee Secretary before the meeting. This helps us to prepare an answer for you. You can notify the Committee Secretary by email outlining which meeting you wish to attend and what you wish to speak on. Contact details can be found on the right of this page. When you arrive at the meeting you should also fill in a speaker's form and hand it to a member of staff. This will ensure the Chair knows which item you wish to speak on! For a brief guide for visitors to Area Committee meetings please see our leaflet below:
