What is the Neighbourhood Policing initiative?

The Neighbourhood Policing initiative was introduced by the Government in 2005. The idea is for police to work with statutory and voluntary agencies to provide a service that tackles community safety issues that are important to residents within each neighbourhood area. Oxford has been divided into 12 areas, each with its own dedicated neighbourhood policing team (called a Neighbourhood Action Group or NAG).

What issues has the initiative been set up to tackle?

The initiative will tackle whatever issues are important priorities for that specific area. Community-based intelligence is being used to tackle local crime.

How can I get involved with my Neighbourhood Action Group?

Visit the Neighbourhood Policing pages of the Oxford Safer Communities Partnership website and use the clickable map to select the relevant NAG and find contact details and priority action areas.

You can also visit the Neighbourhood Policing pages of the Thames Valley Police website for more information.
