The percentage of private rented accommodation, on the other hand, is high - 17.5% in Oxford compared with 8.8% in the south-east and England. What are housing conditions like in Oxford?In 2001 6,100 households were living in overcrowded conditions in the city. Oxford has the highest number of properties without a bath, shower, or toilet in the south-east. Is homelessness a problem in Oxford?568 households were living in temporary accommodation we provide in the city as of May 2007. At the same time our waiting list figures were approaching 5000 households. This is a much higher rate than those of neighbouring districts and the South East region.
