Oxford has a lower level of detached houses and larger numbers of flats and shared accommodation.

Oxford has the highest number of properties in the region without a bath/shower or toilet - 1.9% compared to just 0.8% in Southampton and just 0.1% in South Bucks. The city's average household size is however low for the region at just 2.32 people compared to 2.63 in Slough. It also has a larger number of basement properties.

The City has lower numbers of people in residential care and higher numbers in other communal establishments. This reflects the large amount of student accommodation.
