Disability and AccessibilityWhat is the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)?The Disability Discrimination Act aims to stop discrimination towards disabled people. It applies to employment, education, the provision of goods and services, letting of accommodation and transport. To find out more about the Disability Discrimination Act, see our Disability Information pages. The Equality and Human Rights Commission produces more information, including a Practical Guide to the Law and Best Practice for Employers. What is a Disability Equality Scheme (DES)?We have produced a Disability Equality Scheme and Action Plan. The scheme describes our disability provision at the time of writing. The action plan describes how and when we will improve. We have developed our Disability Equality Scheme through a process of consultation with disability groups and individuals. We would be interested in your views. The Scheme has a three year life span, with reporting on a yearly basis. Visit our Disability Equality Scheme page for more information and to find out how to comment on the scheme.
