Welcome to Oxford

Council buildings

Our buildings that are open to the public have good levels of accessibility.

Where possible we have added ramps and automatic doors.  Loop systems have been installed in reception areas and where toilets are available, these will be accessible.

Is the Town Hall accessible?

Automatic Doors on a separate accessible entrance towards the top of St Aldates.  There are two accessible toilets on the ground floor and two on the 1st floor.  The rear section, which contains a cafe and gallery, is reached by platform lift.  The Main Hall and meeting rooms are reached by a large passenger lift.  The Main Hall, St Aldates Meeting Room, The Assembly Room and the Old Library have hearing loop systems, as does the Reception Desk.  There is a Virtual Tour of the Town Hall available on our website.

Can I get into St Aldates Chambers?

Revenues and Benefits are available here.  You can also obtain a bus pass.  Doors are automatic at the entrance level.  There is a portable loop system available for the meeting room and booths.  There are no toilet facilities available but the facilities in the Town Hall, across the road, can be used.

What about the Planning Reception in St Ebbes?

Planning applications are available for view here.  Doors are automatic, the reception desk has a loop system and there is an accessible toilet available.

Can I skate at the Oxford Ice Rink?

The Ice Rink has a lift down to the ice level.  There is also an accessible toilet and hearing loop on reception.  Wheelchair users can access the ice by a ramp. For more information, visit our Ice Rink pages.

Are your Leisure Centres accessible?

We have leisure centres at Barton, Blackbird Leys, Horspath, Temple Cowley and Summertown.  The sports facilities available vary at each centre and it would be best to check before visiting.  But all have level entrances and accessible toilets and some accessible changing rooms are available.  The Ferry Pool at Summertown has adult changing beds in both accessible changing rooms and Barton has one planned. For contact details, visit our leisure facilities website pages.
