Do the Street Wardens cover the area that I live?

The Street Wardens for Wood Farm are based at 1 Atkyns Road, Wood Farm and cover the following areas:

Please feel free to contact your local office to find out if and when your area is covered, and we will do our best to assist you.

How many Street Wardens are there in my area?

Teresa Slatford (pictured) is the Senior Street Warden for Wood Farm area, including all areas as outlined above. When the team is at full capacity there are six Street Wardens, plus Teresa based in Wood Farm.

What do the Street Wardens do in my area?

Wood Farm

The Street Wardens have been working with Wood Farm Primary Schoool in helping the local children to develop their skills to ride their bikes safely on the roads, through the cycling proficiency scheme.

Our Junior Warden scheme is up and running in the area and is very successful; the Junior Wardens have been involved with many local projects, and recently were responsible for the planting of the flower pots outside Atkyns Road shops and the paddle boats outside the community centre.

As always we are working closely with the local police teams including Community Beat Officers and Police Community Support Officers.

Wood Farm is a close community and the Street Wardens have a very good relationship with local residents, from having a game of football with local youths or chatting with local pensioners!

Currently we have a football loan scheme up and running in Wood Farm, youths can pay a £2.50 deposit on a football, which is returned to the youth when the ball is returned.  This scheme has proved very successful and ensures that the new caged area is used to it's full capacity.

Whilst there still small pockets of anti social behaviour in Wood Farm, the Street Wardens constantly strive to combat this and engage and deter perpetrators.

Barton

There is always plenty going on in Barton, organised by the Community Centre, that wardens endeavour to take part in or attend.

Bayards Primary School is extremely welcoming to the Street Wardens, we often attend school assemblies, cycling proficiency sessions and Footsteps training.

Junior Street Wardens

The Junior wardens did many things over the summer holidays in Wood Farm and Barton. Both areas kick started the summer with a litter pick in key areas of the estates such as around the shops and in the parks and woods.

They were then taken to Shotover to follow a nature trail and then enjoyed a trip to the Oxford Ice Rink.

With funding secured from both Barton and Wood Farm community centre, we were able to take the children to Cogges Farm Museum in Witney. The farm was very accommodating and gave us a good discount.

The holidays were finished off with a sports day organised by the Street Wardens and police teams in the area. Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather, it wasn't held on the Wood Farm field as planned but the Bullingdon Community Centre very kindly let us use their facilities for free. The afternoon was enjoyed by all. The street warden, and police teams all participated along with the children that came along.
