What do the Street Wardens do in my area?
Wood Farm
The Street Wardens have been working with Wood Farm Primary Schoool in helping the local children to develop their skills to ride their bikes safely on the roads, through the cycling proficiency scheme.
Our Junior Warden scheme is up and running in the area and is very successful; the Junior Wardens have been involved with many local projects, and recently were responsible for the planting of the flower pots outside Atkyns Road shops and the paddle boats outside the community centre.
As always we are working closely with the local police teams including Community Beat Officers and Police Community Support Officers.
Wood Farm is a close community and the Street Wardens have a very good relationship with local residents, from having a game of football with local youths or chatting with local pensioners!
Currently we have a football loan scheme up and running in Wood Farm, youths can pay a £2.50 deposit on a football, which is returned to the youth when the ball is returned. This scheme has proved very successful and ensures that the new caged area is used to it's full capacity.
Whilst there still small pockets of anti social behaviour in Wood Farm, the Street Wardens constantly strive to combat this and engage and deter perpetrators.
Barton
There is always plenty going on in Barton, organised by the Community Centre, that wardens endeavour to take part in or attend.
Bayards Primary School is extremely welcoming to the Street Wardens, we often attend school assemblies, cycling proficiency sessions and Footsteps training.
It is hoped that the Junior Warden scheme will soon be operational in Barton.
Marston and Northway
The Street Wardens have a very good relationship with St. Nicholas Primary School, who are pleased with the work that the wardens undertake particularly regarding parking issues. The wardens also attend assemblies and cycling proficiency sessions at St. Nicholas Primary School.
