Street Wardens - Rose HillDo the Street Wardens cover the area that I live? The Rose Hill Street Warden team patrols a wide and very diverse area, which stretches from Littlemore, across Rose Hill to Iffley Village. Caroline Hay (pictured) is the Senior Street Warden for Rose Hill area.
Please feel free to contact your local office to find out if, and when, your area is covered, and we will do our best to assist you. What do the Street Wardens do in my area?Rose Hill is a large housing estate with the central focus on The Oval, around which are two shops, the community centre, youth centre, primary school, children's centre and nursery. A major regeneration scheme is currently taking place on Rose Hill involving Oxford City Council and Oxford Citizens Housing Association, which will see 254 new homes built over the next five years. Young people often congregate in the area, and sometimes this leads to damage, abuse and anti social behaviour - an issue which has been identified by the Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) as the major concern in the area. Fly-tipping is also something that Street Wardens work hard to prevent and get removed quickly. The Wardens aim to attend most Community meetings and activities to contribute to the development and well-being of all who live and work in the area. Littlemore is a busy area with shops, two churches and with Peers School, an important part of the community. Both Rose Hill and Littlemore have a mix of young and older family units with children, and some have an historic link to their area with parents / grandparents who also live nearby. Iffley is almost rural with a village atmosphere, an ancient church, a community-run shop and the picturesque lock on the River Thames. There are more older, often retired people living here and a slower pace of life in general. Page last reviewed 15 Apr 2008 Copyright © Oxford City Council 2008 |
