Government

The Department for Education and Skills has responsibility for training, education and life-long learning and the Department for Work, Family and Pensions is responsible for benefit-related services for people of working age and older people. Train to Gain for Small and Medium Enterprises

Train to Gain offers free, impartial advice, support and funding to help companies of all sizes train and develop their employees. It has helped more than 570,000 people improve their skills since 2006 - but the Government wants to make it easier for small businesses in particular to benefit.

Learning And Skills Council

Established in April 2001, the national network of local Learning and Skills Councils are responsible for matching learning opportunities to local skill needs, working with business to forecast and meet these needs. They have resources and local flexibility to support projects that address particular local needs. Visit the Learning and Skills Council website for more information.
