Tree-mendous recycling effort
Residents in Oxford have helped to recycle 2571 Christmas trees - 375 more than in 2012.
The trees are being turned into approximately 35,445kg of chippings to use in our city's parks and shrub beds.
Councillor John Tanner, Board Member for a Cleaner, Greener Oxford, says: "Thank you to everyone who brought a tree to one of our recycling points.
"By recycling our Christmas trees, we are reducing waste and helping to make Oxford’s parks and open spaces even more beautiful.
"If anyone still has a Christmas tree left to recycle, please take it to Redbridge Recycling Centre."
Seventeen Christmas tree collection points were located in Oxford’s parks and open spaces from Wednesday 2 to Sunday 20 January 2013.
Released on Tuesday 12 February 2013
