Beat the boredom and be active in free StreetSports sessions
Free StreetSports activities are on offer to young people aged between 11 to 19 years at Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre.
The sessions start on Friday 14 December 2012 and run for twelve weeks. The activities on offer include Skater Hockey, Basketball, Badminton, Self-Defence, Judo and much more. The sessions run from 7pm until 9pm.
Sessions are free to attend and will be delivered by the Council's StreetSports Team. No booking is necessary, spaces are limited and people are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Councillor Mark Lygo, Board Member for Parks and Sports, says: "Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre has some fantastic facilities and I'm delighted that young people will be able to access them free of charge with these StreetSports sessions.
"Giving young people free access to leisure centres will help kick-start a healthy habit which could benefit them for the rest of their lives.
"It also gives young people inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games a chance to get active for free."
Sessions will be led by qualified StreetSport leaders who previously attended sessions themselves and have now completed training to deliver them.
