Leisure centres support Gym for Heroes
Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre and Barton Leisure Centre will be supporting the Gym for Heroes Challenge in July.
The Gym for Heroes Challenge is a charity event set up to raise money for 'Help the Heroes'.
The endurance challenge is to complete three hours continuous exercise on up to three different pieces of equipment plus there is an option to include a swim. Alternatively the challenge can be undertaken as a team of four as a 12 hour challenge.
The challenge runs from 9 July to 22 July and costs £20 per person to enter. The organisers hope more money will be raised by participants gaining sponsorships. All entrance and sponsorship money goes to 'Help for Heroes'.
Councillor Mark Lygo, Board Member for Sport, Play & School Liaison, says: "We are very proud to be supporting this great charity and I am sure that a large number of our residents will be keen to support our troops while they challenge themselves in the gym and pool."
